Twenty years ago, the fishing village of Portelo appeared in few guidebooks, and its narrow streets belonged to the 800 people who lived there. Then a budget airline opened a route to the regional airport, a film crew used the harbour as a location, and photographs of its painted houses began to spread on social media.
